Adam Hall – ist ein vielseitiger australischer Sänger, Komponist und ein herausragender Trompetenspieler. Er tat sich 2005 mit „The Velvet Playboys“ zusammen mit dem Plan eine fetzige, klassische Rhythm & Blues Band zu gründen. Um es kurz zu machen: Diese Fusion hat bestens funktioniert!
Unter dem Namen „Adam Hall & The Velvet Playboys“ wurden sie zuerst in Australien sehr erfolgreich und sind bei den großen Festivals nicht mehr wegzudenken ist. Später stellte sich ein internationalen Erfolg ein und sie touren weltweit von Singapur, Boston, New York, New Orleans und Los Angeles; bis hin zu Frankreich, Belgien, Deutschland, Schweiz und Österreich.
So tourten sie unter anderem auch mit der Rhythm & Blues-Koryphäe Big Jay McNeely und machten Shows mit den Legenden Syl Johnson und Betty Harris.
Die Band zeichnet sich aus durch ihre energiegeladene Live-Performance, zusammen mit einem Rapportier aus, welche das Publikum einfach mitnimmt.
So erinnert die Band an die Zeiten, die an das Rat Pack oder Louis Prima im Las Vegas der 50er Jahre erinnert – swingender Jazz, rockiger Rhythm and Blues und guter alter Boogie Woogie!
Gespielt wird tanzbarer Jazz und Rhythm & Blues Musik der 40er und 50er Jahre von Künstlern wie Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, James Brown, Louis Prima, Sammy Davis Junior, Harry Connick Junior, Jackie Wilson, Chuck Berry und Blues Brothers. Daneben aber auch eine ganze Reihe eigener Songs aus ihren aktuellen Alben.
